How to Make a Frittata

What do you do when hunger hits fast and hard?

Well. I opened the fridge and saw:

Eggs

Colby Jack Cheese

1 Green Bell Pepper

1 Red Bell pepper

1 zucchini

Turkey lunch meat

Red Onion

Fresh Garlic

hmmmm, all good stuff

FRITTATA TIME!

I Preheated the oven to 400 degrees

Then, I broke open 8 eggs and beat them( I'm feeding 4 tonight)

and grated a big handful of Colby Jack cheese

Then I diced up 1/2 of each Bell pepper

a big chunk off the Red onion

sliced up the zucchini

added about 8 shakes of Nature's Seasonings

about 5 shakes of Tarragon spice

chopped up two big cloves of garlic

and put them in a pan with olive oil and cooked them on my electric range top on "4" until they where cooked a bit and more translucent

Then I chopped up 3 slices of the turkey lunch meat

 Threw everything into the mixing bowl and mixed it all up

oh, wait, I see some fresh tomatoes on the counter.....

I cut up a few and took the seeds out

Then I melted 2 Tablespoons of butter in a cake pan by placing it in the oven for a minute,

 then put everything into a non stick cake pan

and put it in the oven for 20 minutes

BAM!

opened the fridge to get out the tea and I saw this

YUMMY!  Tasted great with it!  Even had a little bit of guacamole left and added that to three plates

Dinner in 30 Minutes and I was asked to make it again in the future

Use what ever you have 

and make a great hearty dinner everyone will love

Re-purposed Blue Brooch

Vintage blue brooch necklace

I thought the clear blue colors in this vintage brooch just needed a few pearls and some glass blue beads.  Wonderful for spring and summer!

This necklace was a combination of a vintage pin, bracelet parts and vintage beads.

I wired on each bead by hand to give it a softer look.

I feel in love with a set of earrings and designed two different necklaces.  I made each wired bead link and added a clasp.  Pearls and turquoise are so soft and romantic!

Re-purposed Brooch Bracelet

I found this wire pearl bracelet and thought.....wouldn't a brooch look great on this!

Wedding Necklace

I was in the mood to do something spectacular and dressy, so I designed this necklace from a wonderful vintage rhinestone brooch that had a lot of sparkle.  I added some Vintage glass pearls and there you go....

A fabulous necklace to wear for a wedding or a night at the opera!

Creating Wedding Gift Tags

To create wedding gift tags I choose to use this stamp

Love birds

Then I choose the green paint that matches my Gift wrap ribbon and the soft blue

Next, put paint on your stamp

I like just dabbing my stamp into both paints at once and let the magic happen on it's own

I let this dry a bit so I don't mess up what I have done during the next step

which is 

I paint a strip of paint on the end and apply glitter directly onto the paint

I think this gives a whole different look than using glue 

because

the glitter reflects the paint color so it melds into the color scheme

Now I Roll out some clay and make these ceramic hearts

I punched a tiny hole on the top of one side of the heart

now, I let them dry to a light grey color

and put them in the kiln and fired it to over 2000 degrees

Now they are all white and ready to glaze

I decided to glaze some pink and did others for The Valentine's Bag of hearts

now I fire these again to almost the same temperature

Las Vegas Adventure

One of my Great Adventures

Las Vegas, Nevada

So you think of the typical photo

well here it is

My first time to Vegas (so far the only time too)

So we got off the plane, hit the strip and we walked through every casino.

Wish I had a picture of my face...

Mouth open, eyes big.

Those Casinos are over the top gorgeous inside.

But if you rent a car and travel around one day 

heading East.....you get to see all of this

The new bridge 

by the Hoover Dam

I can not imagine driving across that bridge at that altitude!

Then we headed Northwest

This is the Hwy to Groom Lake.

know where we are headed yet?

Here is a hint

This was on a dirt road 

in the middle of no where

before you get to the Joshua Tree Forest (My name)

on the edge of Area 51

That's right

we drove to the gate of Area 51

since I do not like getting into trouble there is no photo

Let me tell you....

there is an SUV parked on the hill....

there are guys with binoculars staring back at you!

we sat

stared around

told them thank you and we were leaving the same way we came.

Yes they can hear you, there are dishes on poles all around you to pick up sounds

So back to the city

and to the exhibits in the Casinos

First we went to the Pyramid, Luxor Casino

 and saw all the Egyptian stuff

before we entered into this

 The Titanic Exhibit

Must see it

you will be rendered speechless by the end

I had to come home with something from this adventure

so I bought two plates and two fat little coffee cups.

Every time we have stew, soup, all in one dinner/salad or chili

we eat out of these now

Grilled Chicken Salad with avocado, tomato, onion and homemade Balsamic Vinegarette dressing

Now, it was time to do the guy thing

fair is fair

so off to the Imperial Palace to see

100's of old cars.

I had to sit down after 50 

My feet were burning

I am not a gambler.  I hate to throw money away

but

I played 20$ at cards, slots, dice, roulette and something else

I lost all my money

except at the roulette table.

My technique was this.

Buy your chips

Toss them on the table

Where ever they land is where you bet.

I WON $ 79.00

I have never lost with this technique either!

But here is the secret

Never re-gamble your winnings.

Take them home

This wedding was in the dead of Summer.  The white rocks reflected the sun and they were literally baking me.  By the time we got to the Cemetery I was having a heat stroke.  HINT: Always carry water and an umbrella in the sun.  Who cares how stupid you look, it helps. The graves were so old and so interesting though.  Many were forgotten, but quite a few were well cared for by their children's children's children.  A family tradition. so it appeared

But it used to be a thriving Mercury Mining town

Ok, I admit it, this was down the road from the wedding yesterday, so we stole ourselves away after our morning coffee to do a little snooping around the area.

The light was perfect for some interesting photo moments

We found the ruins of the old town and these great pictures happened

After we got home the picture morphed into this

When it is little my husband looks like a ghost in the window.

Moral of this blog.....

No matter how hot and miserable it may be at the moment

Don't let the moment be forgotten

you never know

how fondly you will remember it later

and treasure it

Big Bend Lajitas Resort Wedding Adventure

Big Bend is located in Southwest Texas

On the boarder of Texas and Mexico

My Husband and I went to the wedding of my best friend's daughter

We arrived and I took this picture

Then we strolled around

The landscape is beautiful.  You can see Mexico from here

Then we all gathered and talked and went to bed. Tired from the drive.

The next morning I captured this moment
